‍I have always had a passion for both artistry and science. My profound interest in art and drawing, almost made me start an art education at the art school. But, because of my fascination for science, I chose to enter medical school. Fortunately, I am now in the fantastic position to be able to combine both in my profession as a plastic surgeon. After obtaining my Certificate of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, I pursued further specialized training in aesthetic surgery at renown International Institutes. I love my profession. As a plastic surgeon, my passion for my work runs deep.

Expertise

Currently I am head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Leiden University Medical Center, and expert in aesthetic surgery which I perform at Bergman clinics in Amsterdam and The Hague. Central in my work is the meticulous knowledge of the behavior and location of the various anatomical structures in the area of surgery. My extensive experience with all the facial structures in both reconstructive and aesthetic facial surgery, makes me feel very comfortable in that area and enables me to work with the utmost precision.

Techniques

As a medical doctor and plastic surgeon it is important to continually expand my knowledge, refine my techniques, and stay at the forefront of advancements in the field. By being progressive and combining my surgical expertise with new innovative approaches, I strive to optimize patient outcomes and provide the highest standard of care. In order to achieve this, I attach great importance to the evaluation of outcomes and feedback of clients and patients, and I perform research. I take great pleasure in both the technical and personal aspects of my fantastic profession.‍

Care

I place a high value on a professional and personal approach. Indispensable is good and clear communication and trust. I take time to listen to my clients, understand their desired outcomes, and answer their questions and concerns. In collaboration with them, I subsequently develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to their goals and expectations. From the initial consultation to the end of the post-operative period, I strive to give excellent care. This includes support for the emotional and psychological impact that my work can have.

At the end of my plastic surgery training at the Erasmus Medical center in Rotterdam, I obtained my Certificate of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.

To gain additional expertise, I pursued further specialized training in aesthetic surgery by doing the International Fellowship Facial Plastic Surgery (DAFPRAS) at different institutions in Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

In Australia I completed the Perth International Plastic and Reconstructive Fellowship.
